Mojito
The Mojito is a cocktail made with rum, sugar cane, soda and mint, with lots of ice.
Instructions
Like most rum-based cocktails, its origins are Cuban. It may have been invented on the sugar plantations there. Originally, it was meant as medication. About the origins of the name, there are many theories. It may derive from the mojo sauce, which sometimes contains lemon. It can also derive from the Spanish word mojado, which means wet.
The American writer was famous for loving this cocktail. He often drank it in the Cuban bar Bodequita del medio, where he wrote the following text on the wall: My mojito is in La Bodeguita, My daiquiri in El Floridita. That text is still written on that bar’s wall, in his handwriting.
Method: put all the ingredients in a Collins glass and add the crushed ice. And stir lightly. The add the soda water, stir and add the remaining crushed ice.
