Pina Colada
A pina colada (Spanish: pina – pineapple and colada – strained) is an alcoholic long drink cocktail based on white rum, pineapple juice and coconut juice.
Instructions
The origin of the pina colada is unclear. According to one of the stories, the Puerto Rican pirate Roberto Cofresi tossed the basic ingredients together for his crew 200 years ago. The most likely birthplace of the drink as we know now it is the Beachcomber Bar of the Caribe Hilton in San Juan on Puerto Rico. Barman Ramon Marrero Perez modified the recipe somewhat in 1954 by using Don Q Gold rum and Coco Lopez, a coconut cream that had been invented a few years earlier. The hotel was popular among the Hollywood jet set, who adopted the Pina Colada.
